Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a way to throw together a free website in a matter of minutes, no coding experience required, and then just sit back and count the profit as it starts to roll in?
Well, it is possible to build a successful website (successful in that it makes money) but there are a few things you should know first.
Because there are already too many “money sites” built to sell The American Dream.

The list goes on and on, but it all sounds so familiar doesn’t it? So many websites are singing the same old tune, and it’s ridiculous because anything that sounds too good to be true, usually is.
You know how you roll your eyes and immediately click the ‘Back’ button in your browser when you land on one of those cliché, template sales letter landing pages? So why bother wasting your time with the same tired approach?
Rule # 1- Somebody has to really trust you before giving you money through the internet.
Shopping at home is easy, convenient, and fun. All you need is a credit card or Paypal and you can buy almost anything you want. But that doesn’t mean people are going to feel comfortable shopping just anywhere.
So unless you have the reputation and credibility of Amazon.com (you don’t) then you need to put a lot of effort into building credibility for your website. This should be your number one goal, and it’s a tricky one.
It’s kind of like dating. When somebody says “You can trust me…” it usually means you shouldn’t. Trust is something you earn by showing that you can be trusted, and that brings us to the second most important thing you should know about building a successful website.
Rule # 2- “Content is King” is more than just a saying. It should really mean something.
Quality content is not built around search engine optimization.
True quality isn’t about engaging readers either.
In fact, quality content doesn’t even have to be 100% grammatically correct and error free.
The honest truth is much simpler. Quality content is worth reading. So yes, it should engage readers but the meat and bones of any money site is content that actually has meat and bones to it. Something new, original, valuable, enjoyable, and without an ulterior motive!
The best salesmen don’t try to sell anything. They just show customers how to buy. So don’t be annoying, and respect your audience enough to prioritize quality content. It’s the only way to earn their respect.
Rule # 3- Know the Difference Between Aggressive & Sustainable.
The difference is simpler than you think, when you step back and look at it:
- Aggressive money sites require aggressive marketing, investing, and repairing because they will fail, repeatedly. It takes a lot of trial and error. In other words, aggressive = more effort in vain.
- Sustainable money sites require significant effort up front, in building a strong foundation. However, this is the approach you want if you’d like to be able to sit back and count the profit as it rolls in.
With that being said, choose the topic of your money site based on something you have a balanced interest and knowledge in. For sustainable income, it is important to understand how to connect with your audience and build a relationship based on trust, not transaction.
